7 Funny Mistakes in bollywood you never noticed

June 26, 2019

The 1993 thriller Baazigar starring Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty has been one of Bollywood’s most popular films. The plot which is inspired from Hollywood’s A kiss before dying ( 1991) has Ajay Sharma played by Shahrukh Khan planning to avenge his father’s death. In order to seek revenge, Ajay Sharma assumes the identity of his childhood friend Vicky Malhotra and eventually wins the trust of Madan Chopra (Dilip Tahil). Later when Madan Chopra entrusts him (Ajay Sharma/ Vicky Malhotra) with the power of attorney to take decisions on Madan Chopra’s behalf, he misuses the power to transfer the ownership of Chopra’s company to his father’s name Vishwanath Sharma. However, it’s quite inexplicable how can a person named Ajay Sharma misuse the power of attorney which has been entrusted to Vicky Malhotra which is not even his real identity? So there was really no reason for Madan Chopra to panic when he found out that Ajay Sharma had taken over his company because the power of attorney was in the name of Vicky Malhotra and legally there was no way by which Ajay Sharma could actually take any decision using that power of attorney.

Thugs of Hindostan

Thugs of Hindostan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif is a 2018 film written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, It is set in 1795, the plot revolves around a band of thugs fighting against the reign of the British East India Company. No doubt the character of Firangi Mallah played by Aamir Khan is extremely stylised but one can only wonder from where in 1795 did he manage to find those fashionable sunglasses? Those sunglasses came in trend only in the early 19th century.

Choti si baat

Basu Chatterjee’s Choti si baat (1976) is a light hearted love story of Arun Pradeep played by Amol Palekar, a shy and introverted man who is unable to express his feelings for Prabha Narayan played by Vidya Sinha. It is unquestionably one of Basu Chatterjee’s notable films. There is a scene in the movie when the song ‘Na Jaane kyun’ is being played in the background and Colonel Julius Nagendranath (played by Ashok Kumar) is teaching our protagonist Arun how to play chess.  For those who know the basic rules of Chess cannot help but notice that the board is placed incorrectly in the above mentioned scene. Considering the fact that Colonel Nagendranath is a well-informed chess enthusiast, it is difficult to digest that he wouldn’t know how to set up the chess board.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Kuch kuch hota hai is one of the most popular romantic movies of the 1990s.  It was the directorial debut of Karan Johar and is still considered as one of the most successful films of Bollywood with 8 film fare awards to its name. The plot revolves around Rahul Khanna played by Shahrukh Khan, whose wife Tina (played by Rani Mukherji) has written 8 letters before her demise, which are to be given to their daughter Anjali Khanna (Sana Saeed) on her first eight birthdays. And on her eighth birthday, her mother’s letter helps Anjali learn about her mother’s last wish which was to reunite Rahul and his college friend Anjali Sharma (Kajol) and get them married. It is quite absurd for Tina to expect her daughter to read and understand those letters since her first birthday because as far as research goes it takes a few years for any child to learn, read and understand any language. Moreover on what grounds, did Tina assume that Anjali (Kajol) wouldn’t be married by her daughter’s eighth birthday?

Majboor directed by Ravi Tandon is a crime thriller film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi in the lead roles. The plot revolves around Ravi Khanna, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who discovers that he is suffering from a terminal brain tumour and has no more than a few months to live. Eventually he undergoes a brain surgery and is cured after his operation. However, it is not explained that how did the neuro-surgeons perform this brain surgery without removing the patient’s hair and if they did remove then how did he manage to grow his hair so quickly in the very next scene of the movie?

Dhoom 3

Dhoom 3 (2013) directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya is the third instalment of the Dhoom series which started back in 2004. With an ensemble star cast comprising Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif, it is one of the most expensive films made in Bollywood. One of the scenes in the film has ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) in an armed fight with some goons, just when his side kick Ali (Uday Chopra) crashes through a brick wall with an auto rickshaw which he is driving. Now it is quite absurd to see that he is able break a brick wall by banging his auto rickshaw into it. Moreover, what is even more absurd is why would a cop feel the need to reach the scene of action driving an auto rickshaw? And what’s even more illogical is that why did he feel the need to enter the scene by crashing through the brick wall?

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum popularly known as K3G is a 2001 family drama film with an ensemble star cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. In one of the scenes, Anjali Sharma (played by Kajol) accidentally breaks a vas for the second time in the mansion of Yashwardhan Raichand (played by Amitabh Bachchan). In the above mentioned scene, the vase is placed at the centre of the glass table when the scene begins, from where it is literally impossible for Anjali to reach for it. But towards the end of the scene the vas magically moves to the edge of the table where it comes well within Anjali’s reach for her to accidentally break it.
